About this book
Carbohydrates in Chemistry and Biology provides detailed information about the green synthesis, biological importance and catalytic applications of carbohydrate derivatives. It covers various topics including carbohydrate decorated compounds, bioconjugation, carbohydrate functionalized heterocycles, carbohydrate-spiro-heterocycles, heterocycles from carbohydrate precursors and natural sources of bioactive carbohydrates.
- Synthesis and applications of carbohydrate derivatives.
- Carbohydrate decorated bioactive scaffolds and bioconjugates.
- Carbohydrates in catalysis.
- Indispensable to chemists, medicinal chemists and biologists.
Author / Editor information
Bubun Banerjee received his Ph.D. degree from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. He has nearly ten years of experience in the field of research related to green and sustainable developments. Presently he is working as an assistant professor of chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Punjab, India. Dr. Banerjee published more than 110 research articles in the internationally renowned journals and authored twenty book chapters; he also co-edited twenty books and guest edited sixteen different special thematic issues of different journals.
Dr. Vinod K. Tiwari (born in 1976 in Bihar) is Professor of Organic Chemistry at Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) since 2005. He earned his MSc degree (Organic Chemistry specialization, in 1998) from BHU, PhD from CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute (in 2004, Mentor: Dr. R. P. Tripathi) and had postdoctoral experience at University of Florida (2005, Mentor: Prof. Alan R Katritzky), University of California-Davis (2007, Mentor: Prof. Xi Chen), and Universitat Konstanz (2009, Mentor: Prof. Richard R Schmidt). Dr. Tiwari was offered for the post of Lecturer at Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (in 2004). Dr Tiwari has completed 11 major projects, 17 PhDs, 25 MSc dissertations, and delivered > 290 invited lectures in India and abroad. His research is well documented in 190 peer-reviewed publications (Citations: 9280, h-index: 47, i10 index: 132), 8 patents, 25 book chapters, and 6 books of high repute. Prof. Tiwari research is well recognized with several honors/awards/medals from various academic societies including CRSI, ISCA, ICC, ICS, ACCT(I), Holkar Science College, IAPS, UP-CST, NESA, BHU, Elsevier Inc., Wiley, ACS, RSC, Bentham Science, etc, Dr. Tiwari at present hold Secretary Position, ACCT(I), council member of CRSI, and editorial board member/Guest Editor of 14 journals including J. Carbohydrate Chem., Trends Carbohydrate Res., Synlett, Synthesis, Scientific Reports (Nature), Current Organic Chemistry, Current Organic Synthesis, Ind. J. Heterocycl. Chem., CSIR-BBAAV, Molecules, Carbohydrate Research, etc.. Dr. Tiwari’s teaching interest covers almost all aspects of organic chemistry, but research interest is highly focused on ‘Synthetic Carbohydrate Chemistry, Novel synthetic methodologies, and Carbohydrates in Drug Development’.
