This work gives a holistic and systematic interpretation of Aristotle’s metaphysics as a doctrine of substance or principles, thereby overcoming the Islamic and Scholastic division between metaphysica generalis and metaphysica specialis. It also rediscovers the chiasmus as a key classificatory method and clearly distinguishes Aristotle’s analogy of proportionality from Aquinas’s analogy of attribution.
