Abstract
This chapter presents an overview of the book’s arguments, methodology, structure, sources and significance, situating these within the historiographical context of recent work on both royalism and preaching in the seventeenth century. It argues that, while the preaching of those loyal to the king has received little attention from historians, it has the potential to deepen our understanding of royalist religion, identity and print culture.
