Abstract

The crystal structure of Cs2Cu(C2O4)2 · 2H2O has been determined by x-ray methods. The compound belongs to the space group P[unk]. There are two formula units in the unit cell of dimensions a = 9.2980 ± 7 Å, b = 9.1167 ± 6 Å, c = 7.1316 ± 4 Å, α = 97.524 ± 5°, β = 97.410 ± 4° and γ = 107.522 ± 4°. The R factor of the three-dimensional structure determination is 0.065.

The copper atoms occupy special positions and possess octahedral coordination. There is no definite coordination for the caesium atoms. One Oxalate ion is twisted by 5.4°.
