XML schickt sich an, die Welt des Informationsaustausches in der Automatisierungstechnik zu erobern. Dank Klartextdarstellung lassen sich XML-basierte Austauschformate in babylonischer Vielfalt notfalls mit einfachsten Texteditoren erstellen. Dieser Beitrag beleuchtet die aktuelle Situation beim Einsatz von XML zum Protokollentwurf und untersucht verschiedene Möglichkeiten der XML-Bordmittel zur Prüfung ausgetauschter Informationen auf Gültigkeit im operativen Betrieb.
XML is about to take the automation industry's world of information exchange by storm. Thanks to plain text representation XML-based formats can be created in Babylonian varieties even with simplest text editors. This contribution takes a look at the current situation when deploying XML for specification of XML-based protocols and examines different possibilities provided by standard XML technologies for validating information exchange in operation.
