Abstract

The crystal structure of bis-cyclo-octadien-nickel, Ni(C8H12)2, has been determined from x-ray diffraction data. The space group is ΡI-C1i and the unit cell, with a = 10.84, 6 = 9.12, c = 7.38 Å, α = 109.95°, β = 84.72°, γ - 108.13°, contains two molecules, each of which has the symmetry 222. The four C-C double bonds of each molecule are elongated by 0.05 Å compared to normal double bonds and form a quasi-tetrahedral arrangement around the nickel atom with the distances Ni-C all equal to 2.12 Å.

Die Kristallatrukturbestimmung von bis-Cyclooctadien-Nickel Ni(C8H12)2 wurde mit Röntgenbeugungsdaten durchgeführt. Die Baumgruppe ist PI . Die Elementarzelle, die 2 Moleküle enthält, hat die Gitterparameter α = 10,84; b = 9,12; c = 7,38 Α; α = 109,95°; β = 84,72°; γ = 108,13°. Die Molekülsymmetrie ist 222. Ni ist quasi-tetraedrisch an die aufgeweiteten O-C Doppelbindungen der beiden Cyclooctadien-Ringe gebunden, wobei alle acht Abstände Ni-C 2,12 A lang sind. Die Abstände der C-C-Einfachbindungen sind normal.
