Dear readers
The new year has begun and some are wondering where the moments of 2021 have gone that we should remember. Most of us have been travelling much less, observing the ups and downs of the infection figures in the parts of the world where our Practical Metallography is also read with correspondingly different sensitivities. We are pleased that, despite this, the number of authors actively contributing to the content continues to grow. Last year, we reported on more than 800 pages about our community and news from the preparation, imaging and analysis of the microstructure in a wide variety of materials, and we will continue to pursue this mission consistently. In summer, we will publish a double issue on the occasion of the Metallography Conference in Saarbrücken, so that the PM monthly issue will always reach you at the beginning of each month. Your contributions to our Metallography Conference are most welcome at www.dgm.de/met/2022 . We look forward to seeing you all and wish you serenity, optimism and always a reason to be light-heartedly cheerful.

Liebe Leserinnen und Leser
das neue Jahr hat begonnen und manche fragen sich, wo die Momente von 2021 geblieben sind, an die wir uns erinnern sollten. Die meisten von uns waren viel weniger unterwegs und beobachten das Auf und Ab der Infektionszahlen in den Teilen der Erde, in denen auch mit entsprechend unterschiedlicher Befindlichkeit unsere Praktische Metallographie gelesen wird. Wir freuen uns, dass trotzdem die Zahl der Autorinnen und Autoren, die aktiv zum Inhalt beitragen, stetig anwächst. Im letzten Jahr haben wir auf mehr als 800 Seiten über unsere Community und Neuigkeiten von der Präparation, Abbildung und Analyse des Gefüges in unterschiedlichsten Werkstoffen berichtet und werden diese Mission konsequent weiterverfolgen. Im Sommer werden wir mit einem Doppelheft anlässlich der Metallographietagung in Saarbrücken dafür sorgen, dass danach das PM-Monatsheft auch immer am jeweiligen Monatsanfang bei ihnen eintrifft.
