Dear members of DGLM and SALC,

Dear editorial board members, editors and reviewers,

Dear readers of Photonics & Lasers in Medicine,

After having successfully published the first volume of Photonics & Lasers in Medicine, the editors-in-chief have decided to go one step further in order to improve both the international recognition and scientific impact of the journal.

In January 2013 we started an ISI application to acquire an ‘impact factor’, which is a measure of the frequency with which the “average article” in our journal has been cited in a particular year or period (for more information please see: http://thomsonreuters.com/products_services/science/free/essays/impact_factor/).

This means that we will be watched more closely for the next 2 years and we need to increase the citations of manuscripts, particularly for the first two volumes.

Therefore, we would very much appreciate it if you could support our application by citing our articles when applicable.

Our publisher De Gruyter is supporting this venture and has kindly permitted easy and free access to all articles of whole of volume 1 and issue 1 of volume 2. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their generous and helpful support.

For a free download of articles from the above mentioned volumes, please follow the following instructions:

  • Step 2: Select your language from the menu bar (right top of the screen)

  • Step 3: Click on “Zum Content” or “Read content” (see green arrow)

  • Step 4: Select the volume/issue you require from the left menu bar. By clicking on the appropriate issue, all related articles will be displayed to the right of the menu bar. Green icons “Free access” indicate the freely available articles.

  • Step 5: A click on the title of the appropriate article opens a new window with some brief citation information.

  • Step 6: By clicking on “Full Text PDF”, the pdf data file will open and can be downloaded in the usual way.

For each citation please use the following format, e.g.: Mandel A, Hamblin MR. A renaissance in low-level laser (light) therapy – LLLT. Photon Lasers Med 2012;1(4):231–234.

Online access to the journal can also be gained via the homepage of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Lasermedizin (DGLM) e. V. Please log into http://www.dglm.org.

In anticipation of a successful application, our thanks and our very best regards,

Dr. F. Frank  Dr. L. Lilge  Dr. C.M. Philipp  Dr. R. Sroka
