Summary
Environmental policy faces major knowledge and incentive problems. Going beyond neoclassical environmental economics and ecological economics, these problems receive special and, above all, consistent attention in the framework of robust political economy, which is why we use this approach for a critical analysis. We argue that an analysis of environmental policy from the perspective of robust political economy shows that polycentric approaches to environmental policy are a more suitable means than monocentric approaches.
