Summary

The murders of the Gracchi did not leave the Roman ruling class indifferent. Violence (vis in Latin sources, bia in Greek sources) became the subject of an important historiographical reflection and was used as an interpretative parameter of political history of the last century BC. The relevance of the problem deeply influenced the following historiographical reflection and rose much interest in modern historiography.
