Abstract
This paper has highlighted the simulation study of high optical fiber system efficiency product based on various light sources with the employment of all optical fiber amplifiers through space division multiplexing systems. The modulation techniques are used that are namely non return to zero on-off keying (NRZ-OOK), return to zero on off keying (RZ-OOK) and return to zero differential phase shift keying (RZ-DPSK). These modulation techniques are employed to increase the fiber rate capacity. Various light sources are also employed such as continuous wave (CW) laser, distributed feedback laser (DFB) and vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL). Space division multiplexing is used through the fiber cable system to increase the number of users per fiber system. The dispersion compensated fiber is mixing with single mode fiber to reduce the dispersion effects and consequently increase the fiber data rates. Amplification techniques are employed to increase the transmission distance up to 500 km fiber reach.
