Michael T. Hartney is Assistant Professor of Politics at Lake Forest College. His research focuses on the policy-making process, public opinion, and democratic accountability explored through the lens of education politics. Recent work has appeared or is forthcoming inAmerican Journal of Political Science andPerspectives on Politics . Michael is currently working on a book manuscript that examines the causes and consequences of teacher political activism in the postwar US.
