Abstract

In this interview, Klaus-Michael Kodalle gives insight into more than five decades of his philosophical career, covering various topics such as the relationship between politics and religion in the present and in his research on Hobbes; historic guilt, especially concerning National Socialism, forgiving and reconciliation; the philosophy of individual nonconformity; the role of the negative and the imaginative in historical and political conflicts. The second half of the interview touches on the post-1945 philosophical developments in Jena and Kodalle’s own activities in Jena after Reunification.
