Chemistry for Beauty and Health

13-16 June 2018, Toruń, Polan

The Department of Chemistry of Biomaterials and Cosmetics, Nicolas Copernicus University in Toruń announces the First International Conference on Chemistry for Beauty and Health. The conference will be held 13-16 June 2018 in the city of Toruń, at Nicolaus Copernicus University. Toruń is called the “Gothic Pearl”, since its Old Town, listed among the UNESCO World Heritage sites, is rich with medieval monuments.

This conference will bring together academic and industrial experts in the field to present and discuss innovation in chemistry related to well-being, beauty, and health. Prospective authors are invited to submit a one-page abstract for oral or poster presentation in electronic format via the conference website. (deadline 15 March 2018).

The conference will be held under the auspices of the European Polymer Federation and the Polish Society for Biomaterials. The main topics of the conference are:

  1. Biomaterials

  2. Cosmetic chemistry

  3. Polymers and biopolymers for beauty and health

  4. Pharmaceutical chemistry

  5. Food chemistry

  6. Applied chemistry

The organizers hope that this meeting will be an unforgettable and fruitful experience for both scientific development and social life.

Molecular Imprinting

24-28 June 2018, Jerusalem, Israel

Molecular imprinting is a generic approach for the synthesis of polymeric matrices having selectivity towards the imprinted species. This methodology has been widely applied in sensing and separation of organic molecules. Recently it has been extended to larger entities such as biomolecules, whole cells and nanomaterials.

This conference is the international meeting ground for researchers studying all aspects of molecular imprinting. The 10th meeting, hosted in Jerusalem, Israel will be a special event for all of the participants. The significance of this meeting will be the emphasis on the combination between scientific excellency and the platform for young researches to present their work. In addition, new aspects of molecular imprinting that have not been presented in previous meetings will be presented, such as bio-imprinting and membrane imprinting. Especially topics such as thin film or membrane imprinting and the imprinting of nanoparticles (a new topic that holds promise for environmental monitoring issues) and more. Molecular imprinting is a hybrid topic which combines bio-inspired molecular recognition mechanisms with polymer chemistry. It has applications in many chemically related areas, from analytical chemistry (development of new, highly selective separation media) to sensor chemistry (the development of new sensing layers) as well as in the area of material chemistry by developing new polymeric materials with enhanced capabilities.

Solubility Phenomena

15-20 July 2018, Tours, France

The 18th International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP-18) will be held 15-20 July 2018 in Tours, France. A city of art and history, Tours is a very pleasant place to live and to visit. The conference, which will be held at the Hôtel Oceania l’Univers, will be the latest in a successful series of biennial IUPAC meetings organized by the Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data (SSED), gathering international experts on solubility studies and related subjects to exchange new research and concepts.

ISSP-18 will include plenary and invited lectures, as well as oral and poster presentations, ranging from basic equilibrium measurements to advanced theoretical predictions. While highlighting the importance of chemical thermodynamics and solubility studies, both in fundamental and applied science, the meeting features a wide agenda of topics and applications. In 2018, a session devoted to the electrolytes and related phenomena in energy storage systems as well as two unique discussion forums on ionic liquids and solution chemistry will be organized for the first time in the history of the event.

Outside the session lecture theatres, attendees will also find numerous exhibitors and the opportunity to deeply improve their knowledge of modelling approaches during our Workshop titled, “Modelling of fluid phase equilibria and solubility phenomena – from experiments to their evaluations."

As always, participants from emerging regions will receive financial assistance to enable them to attend this symposium. Finally, all attendees will have a unique opportunity to meet world-leading scientists on Thermodynamics and Fluid Phase Equilibria, not only through the proposed scientific sessions, but also on the networking and social events, which will take place throughout the conference.

Solution Chemistry

26–30 August 2018, Szeged, Hungary

The 35th International Conference on Solution Chemistry (ICSC) continues a successful conference series that brings together scientists from all branches of solution chemistry, from both fundamental and applied sciences, and from all continents. The topics of the conference will include every and any theme that may be associated with solutions, including analytical chemistry, thermodynamics, spectroscopy, electrochemistry, interfaces, and molecular simulations.

The conference is organized by the Hungarian Chemical Society and will be held in the Hotel Forrás. In the scientific programme, plenary lectures (60 min), keynote lectures (45 min), and regular presentations (15 min) will be given. There will be a poster session.

Invited speakers will have the opportunity to publish their talks in a dedicated issue of Pure and Applied Chemistry, while the regular talks and posters may be presented as full papers in a special issue of the Journal of Solution Chemistry.

The host city, Szeged, is situated on the Tisza river near the southern border of Hungary and has a very pleasant Mediterranean climate. The life of the city is interwoven with that of the University of Szeged, which has more than 20,000 students and employs over 8,000 people.

The recently established ELI ALPS (Extreme Light Infrastructure, www.eli-hu.hu) is an additional attraction for chemists interested in the application of lasers.

Important dates and deadlines: Abstract submission: 30April 2018. Early bird registration: 31 July 2018.
