Hind wings with an oblique series of yellowish white spots from vein 4 beyond cell to tornus; cilia white apically and tornally and spotted with white in between. Length of fore wing 21—25 mm. Diagnosis: Hind wings with the whitish markings slightly broader, the most advanced spot is as large as it is far from termen. Distribution: Queensland (Cedar Bay = terra typica). Genus Periopta TURNER (fig. 3 5) 1920 Periopta TURNER, Trans. R. Soc. South Australia, Adelaide, 44:127. - Species typica: Agarista ardescens BUTLER (by original designation). Diagnosis: Antennae half to two-thirds of costa, filiform; frons with truncate conical prominence, with raised rim at apex; palpi moderate, ascending; the second joint with rather short, loosely appressed hairs; the third long, smooth; abdomen smooth, with dorsal crests more or less developed; hind tibiae with long hairs dorsally. Venation: in fore wings, vein 2 from about two-thirds of cell; 3,4 from the lower cell-angle; 5 from well above the angle; 6 from the upper cell-angle; areole narrow; 7 and stalk of 8 + 9 from extremity of areole; 10 from the upper angle of areole. Hind wings with vein 2 from about three-quarters of cell; 3, 4 and 6, 7 from the cell-angles; 5 obsolescent, from middle of discocellulars.Male genitalia: Uncus short, slightly shorter than one-third of costa, compressed, arched at base, then nearly straight and bent at the extremity to form a minute hook. Tubus analis short and broad. Vinculum with the fold narrow, bearing a sub-marginal fringe of moderately long stiff hair. Valva elongate, rather narrow, banana-shaped; costa faintly outcurved at middle; apex upturned, more or less pointed;
