He has been a research professor at a research university and has a PhD in engineering (industrial control systems). He is also a professional engineer, certified professional manager and certified manufacturing technologist, and has been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, fellow of the Institution of Diagnostic Engineers, fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, fellow of the British Society of Commerce, fellow of the Institute of Production Control, etc.
