This volume describes the establishment and development of the bishopric of Halberstadt until the end of Ottonian royal rule. In this period, early medieval Saxony became the key area in East Francia. The new centrality of the Harz region accelerated the expansion of the church in the form of parishes, cloisters, and convents, with the rise of seats like Magdeburg and Quedlinburg into main centers of Ottonian monarchy.
