The travelogue (Rihla) by scholar Ibn Jubayr from al-Andalus (d. 614/1217) describes the author's pilgrimage to Mecca and his return to Granada. For the first time, this study examines his travelogue as a political text against the backdrop of Almohad rule in al-Andalaus and the Maghreb.
