Innovation, Temptation, and Mathematical Education – The Dano-Norwegian Lotto and the Struggle for Opinion

  • Johanne Slettvoll Kristiansen

Johanne Slettvoll Kristiansen is a postdoctoral scholar at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Trondheim), specialising in British and Scandinavian eighteenth-century cultural history. She obtained her PhD with a thesis on British political journalism during the French Revolution. Her postdoctoral work explores the establishment of state lotteries in Scandinavia in the late eighteenth century. In addition to editing the current volume, she is writing a monograph that aims to uncover not only how and why a state lottery was implemented and abolished in the Scandinavian kingdoms, but also how this development was debated by contemporary observers and critics.
