Reinholds Begriff des Fundaments einer moralischen Religion im Ausgang von Kant

Abstract
This essay refers to the second volume-fifth treatise of Reinhold’s Contributions to the correction of past misunderstandings of the philosophers (Jena 1794). In this treatise Reinhold aims to work out a philosophical „foundation“ (Fundament) of religion. Initially, I consider a first version of the foundation of religion that Reinhold had devised shortly before. It concerns the concept of a „moral cognitive ground“ (moralischer Erkenntnisgrund) of religion,which Reinhold carries out in the first volume (1790) of the Letters on Kant’s Philosophy and which he finds already in the movement of the theoretical criticism of Kant. The Contributions of 1794 develop another (practical) approach to the question of the foundation of religion (or moral religion). The Contributions recognize the foundation of the moral religion in practical reason in its relation to will and moral conscience. The main argument of my contribution is precisely Reinhold’s account of the foundation of moral religion in practical reason.
