Autopornografie

This book offers a micro-sociological study of media-transmitted sexuality. Using the example of the Camming community, whose members share webcam images of their naked bodies with others, it shows how bodies themselves become media in such auto-pornographic media practice. The study methodically explores the boundaries of shame and the possibilities for conducting ethnographic research of deviant practices on one’s own body.

Dr. Tobias Boll ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Soziologie der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität (JGU) Mainz. Er forscht zu Körperbildern in Medienkulturen und zu Praktiken sexueller Humandifferenzierung. Methodisch exploriert seine Arbeit Grenzbereiche der Ethnografie.
