24CHAPTER 2POLYNESIAN LANGUAGESThe previous chapter looked at the past of Polynesian languages. This one deals with their present. When one studies these languages as they are today, several questions come to mind immediately: (1) Where are the languages spoken? (2) How many are there? (3) What are their names?1.Where?Figure 2.1 shows the geographical range of most of the lan-guages in the family.
