Identität oder Wechselwirkung? Fichte und Schelling über Reinholds Wechsel zur Wissenschaftslehre

Abstract
The paper addresses the debate on Reinhold’s 1797 ‘conversion’ to the Wissenschaftslehre, from both a historical and a systematical perspective. In historical terms, the paper intends to exemplarily spell out the ‘non-simultaneity’ in the rapid transformations of post-Kantian philosophy. More often than not, protagonists quickly alter the positions put forward in their published works (i. e., the ones known to the others) and thus, debates frequently involve talking at cross purposes. In the given instance, the paper tries to show that, while Reinhold’s ‘conversion’ to the Wissenschaftslehre is mainly based on the first three principles of Fichte’s Foundation, both Fichte’s and Schelling’s critiques of this conversion root in an evolved understanding. This non-simultaneity indeed has crucial systematical implications. At stake is the question as to whether the principle of philosophy is to be understood as pure identity, or rather, as an in itself complex structure of interaction.
